Meet Erin,

Your Gentle Guide to Healing & Reconnection

Hi, I’m Erin. I created A Soft Place because I believe everyone deserves a space to slow down, breathe, and reconnect with themselves — a place where all parts of you are welcome, and you can explore what feels supportive, authentic, and healing.

I grew up in Asheville, North Carolina, in the heart of the Appalachian Mountains — a place where the rhythm of the seasons, the stillness of forests, and the sound of rivers shaped my deep appreciation for nature and a slower, more embodied way of living.

I was raised in a family that valued compassion, service, and connection. From an early age, I learned that healing takes many forms — through kindness, presence, and the simple act of showing up for others. Those early lessons planted the seeds of my lifelong curiosity about the human experience and what it truly means to truly live an embodied life.

From Stage to Stillness

I also grew up in theatre, drawn to the way movement, storytelling, and music help us explore emotion and connection. I earned my BFA in Theatre Arts (Stage Management) from East Carolina University, with minors in Leadership Studies and History. I imagined a life in the arts — until the pandemic arrived in 2020 and the theatre world went dark.

That unexpected pause became a turning point.

My mat became a place of refuge — a space to slow down, breathe, and meet myself with compassion instead of criticism.

During that time, I returned to yoga — something I had practiced on and off since childhood — and it quickly became a lifeline while navigating burnout, anxiety, and fear of the unknown. For the first time, movement wasn’t about performance, punishing, or changing my body — it was about listening to it, learning its language, and rebuilding trust.

Reclaiming the Body as Home

For much of my life, I carried the weight of anxiety, depression, and a complicated relationship with my body. Like many, I had experienced trauma and sexual assault, which left me feeling disconnected from my sense of safety and belonging in my own skin.

While talk therapy offered profound support, yoga and somatic practices gave me the missing link — a way to process and release what words couldn’t reach.

Through mindful movement, breathwork, and meditation, I began to feel my and process my emotions rather than fear them — to reclaim my body as a safe place to live.

Yoga became the bridge between my mind, body, and spirit. It helped me rediscover peace, presence, and self-trust — and it lit a spark that changed the course of my life.

A Calling to Serve

This experience inspired me to study yoga as a therapeutic path. I pursued my first 200-hour Yoga Teacher Training at Laughing River Yoga in Burlington, VT in 2023. This training was a powerful foundation, but was left craving more knowledge. In 2024, I began the 800-hour Professional Yoga Therapist Training Program, Through Kripalu’s School of Integrative Yoga Therapy. So far I’ve completed my 300-hour Advanced Teacher of Therapeutic Yoga Certificate, and am in the final stage of my 800 hr certification, finishing my mentored practicum hours and offering sessions.

Along the way, I became trained and studied Reiki and Sound Healing — both gentle yet powerful practices that support the body’s natural capacity to restore balance, calm, and connection.

The Birth of A Soft Place

I founded A Soft Place to create the kind of sanctuary I longed for in my own healing — a space where every part of you is welcome.

I see healing as a partnership: you are your own greatest teacher. My role is to offer tools, guidance, and a compassionate mirror as you come home to yourself.

My work integrates yoga therapy, Reiki, and sound healing to help you reconnect with your body, regulate your nervous system, and rediscover your natural steadiness and clarity. Each session is an invitation to soften, breathe, and remember your wholeness.

If you feel called to begin or deepen your own healing journey, I’d be honored to walk alongside you — to hold space, listen deeply, and help you reconnect to the wisdom within your body.

Here, I hope you find what I once needed most — a soft place to land.
